Today we’re launching the biggest improvement to Artifacts yet: Live Queries.

To explain why this matters, it helps to start with an observation about how reporting actually works inside a company.

There are two kinds of reports in every company

The first is static analysis. One of the most popular formats with our customers is a New York Times-style readout: a narrative that explains what happened and why, with charts and callouts woven directly into the story.

Many of our customers run these weekly, and Artifacts already handles this elegantly. Zoë fully rebuilds the readout each week. She re-runs the analysis, re-writes the narrative, and draws fresh conclusions from fresh data.

The second is operational reporting. This is what your BI reports handle today. It’s the report you open for a pulse check, not an in-depth read, and covers topics like inventory positions, pipeline coverage, or store performance against target.

The narrative doesn’t change week to week, and the numbers need to be current to the minute (not as of last Tuesday).

Until today, Artifacts only handled the first use case well.

What changes with Live Queries?

With Live Queries, an artifact can now run your most crucial operational reports too. Every time anyone opens an artifact, its queries re-run against your warehouse, so the data is always live (without rebuilding the artifact itself).

Because the data refreshes independently of the artifact, the presentation stays stable. Zoë doesn’t redesign your report every time the numbers change. The layout your team knows (and has verified) stays exactly where they left it; only the data moves.

And because every query runs through Zenlytic, governance is built in, not bolted on. Row-level access control and user-level permissions apply to every query an artifact runs. Two people can open the same artifact, and each sees exactly (and only) the data they’re allowed to see. Governance is fully built in.

Filters that actually query your warehouse

Live Queries makes artifact filters and controls genuinely interactive. When you change a filter, the artifact queries the warehouse. You’re working with your actual data, not a frozen copy of it.

And every single visual keeps its receipts. Users can inspect the source query behind any chart, and see how the agent pulled the data without viewing any SQL. Trusted answers require clear verification, and Live Queries carries that principle from conversation with Zoë all the way into the reports your team lives in.

You can now ask Zoë a question, get an answer, and turn it into a key operational report (quite literally in minutes) with a level of customization that wasn’t even close to possible in last-generation BI products.

No waiting on a BI backlog. No trade-off between speed and trust.

This is a massive unlock for our customers, and it’s live today.
